Start a career or follow your dreams by making a difference in people's lives as a certified Nursing Assistant. This course teaches the skills required to give personal care to patients in a nursing home, hospital, or private home. Areas of study include the knowledge of medical terminology, communication, and skills of resident rights, vital signs, safety, nutrition, personal care and more. Skills are taught in the nursing assistant laboratory area and practiced in a supervised clinical setting at a long term care facility. The class has a mandatory 75 hours with classroom, lab and 18 hours clinical time. Upon completion, students are eligible to take the state Nursing Assistant Registry Exam. In addition to the course tuition, textbooks/skills packets are available for $20, background check is $30, and $166 cost for state CNA exam (Hennepin Technical College). Test-Out exam will be available onsite for $213 with Century College. You must purchase your own royal blue scrubs. Due to the reduced price, no scholarships will be available for this class. Prerequisite: Recent (within 12 months) Mantoux test, ability to lift 25-30 lbs., HS diploma, GED or proof of 7th grade reading level. Bring your own soda or water, vending machines are not available. Park on the north side of the building, 2nd Floor.
