  • Mayer Arts "Wish" Musical Theater Camp

    Gr. PK-3 A Wish Worth Making! We will choose our characters, learn music and choreography from Wish and create our own musical! Learn how to properly speak your lines, block a scene, develop your character and much more! We will also play fun creative games. No experience necessary. All that is needed are comfortable clothing and lightweight sneakers or dance shoes. Friends and family are invited to a special performance beginning the final 30 minutes on the last day of camp. Bring a nut-free snack and beverage to camp daily.

  • Stevie Ray Improv

    New Camp! Ages 10-14 Learn to think on your feet, gain self-confidence and have a ton of fun performing with your friends. No experience is necessary. Stevie Ray’s Improv Company is one of the longest-running improv theaters in Minnesota. The class culminates with you performing a recital for family and friends at Stevie Ray’s Comedy Cabaret, located at the famous Chanhassen Dinner Theatre! Students will end the program with a recital at Chanhassen Dinner Theatre for friends and family. Audience members will be charged $5 to attend the recital...pay at the door. This goes towards the Stevie Ray Improv Company staff for hosting the show and Chanhassen Dinner Theatre. Please have your child bring a water bottle and nut-free snack to camp. Your child's recital will be August 15, 11:30-12:30pm. Students and families arrive at 11am. The Chanhassen Dinner Theater is located at 501 W 78th St, Chanhassen, MN 55317. No transportation is provided....parents, please drive your children to and from the performance.

Engage in solo musings and collaborative prompts, honing your craft while embracing the great outdoors. Receive and offer insightful feedback, culminating in a public reading at the Kouba Gallery. Let nature inspire your prose in this transformative writing adventure! "Shakespeare in the Woods." will step you into the world of Shakespearean theater with a riveting two-week immersion for high school theater aficionados (grades 9-12). Explore the authenticity of original practices, staging captivating performances amidst nature's grandeur. Dive into stage combat training set amidst the wild, using the woods as your stage for dynamic fight sequences. Embrace outdoor theater—let the woods be your backdrop, trees your set pieces, and nature's canvas your stage. Join us for an exhilarating theatrical odyssey under the open sky! "Art in the Woods," will embark your student on a transformative artistic journey. This dynamic two-week exploration is designed for budding high school artists (grades 9-12). Amidst breathtaking woodland, riverside, and natural spring settings, unleash your creativity across mediums—painting, photography, sculpture, or multimedia art. Find inspiration in nature's palette, crafting masterpieces amidst serene landscapes. Engage in solo reflections and collaborative prompts, honing your craft and exchanging meaningful feedback. Showcase your artistic vision in a public exhibit at the Kouba Gallery. Join us to awaken your artistry amid nature's canvas! Parents will drop off and pick up their child at the Izaak Walton League MN Valley Chaper, 6601 Auto Club Rd, Bloomington, MN 55438. This is a full day camp. Participants need to bring a nut-free lunch, 2 nut-free snacks, a water bottle, bug spray, and sunscreen.
  • 2024 Bloomington Summer Community Musical: Disney's High School Musical

    Gr. 7-12 Registration is open for the Bloomington Summer Musical which will be held on July 25 at 10 a.m. (senior preview) July 26 at 7 p.m. and July 27 & 28 at 3 p.m. at Jefferson High School. Please go to www.jeffersontheatrecompany.org for details on the show including title, audition requirements. We are looking for actors and stage crew for this show. All who register participate. This is a no cut production. To participate as an actor or tech crew member please register by May 1, 2024. Auditions to determine roles will be by video audition which is due by May 10. Callbacks will be May 18 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at Jefferson High School. Rehearsals: Monday - Friday starting on June 10 - July 24 from 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. in the Jefferson High School Auditorium. No rehearsal June 19, July 4, 5. Open for performers entering 7th grade through graduating seniors. Tech crew will come to the first rehearsal on June 10 at which time a complete tech schedule will be determined. Performances: July 25 at 10 a.m. (senior preview) July 26 at 7 p.m. and July 27 & 28 at 3 p.m. at Jefferson High School. Tuition: $200 for performers; $145 for tech crew. Scholarships available!   • Valley View Middle School - Fusion

    New for 2023-24, Fusion is the umbrella of most after school programs (excluding sports). Fusion is offered for free to middle school families as it is a Targeted Services program aimed at providing opportunities for students to succeed. Fusion will be offered Monday-Thursday from 2:45pm-4:45pm. At 4:45pm students can walk home or be picked up - students who are bussed to school also have the option of riding the activity bus. Fusion will run from October 2nd through May 16th this year. The program itself varies slightly by school as teachers are able to offer the activities they choose. Historically there has been academic support, musical theater, robotics team, and leadership opportunities. The academic portion of the day with teachers is from 2:45pm-3:45pm and then from 3:45pm-4:45pm there are some other fun activities hosted by our Fusion Activity Assistants.
